My Music Video

Below, you will find the link to my music video! Unfortunately as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions, I did not get to shoot all of the content I had planned for in my video, so I drew up a storyboard and used Adobe Premier Pro to edit the drawings into a sequence, which reflects the way I would have wanted to shoot. Below the link on this post you will find images of my storyboard plan, which has a description of each setting alongside the key elements such as camera angles that I would have used in the shoot.

Charlotte Still's Music Video

Intended evidence:

Intertextuality: part of my intention with the music video was to include an element of intertextuality that linked to the type of art and illustration used, such as my own interpretation of art work from Roy Lichtenstein, and photography and videography similar to music videos for artists such Lady Gaga.

I wanted to include a short clip of an extreme close up of lips, with an edit of a Lichtenstein style filter over the top, meaning it would look similar to this:

Below is a screenshot from a video that I took, which closely resembles  the image that I would have liked to use in my edit.

Convergence: As well as adding the website details/ link to the YouTube video, I also wanted to add hashtags, the artist's logo and social media links at the end of the clip, which would have enabled audiences watching the video would to go straight to the website page. This would further direct my audience to the social media platforms, hence encouraging them to start or join conversations with similar minded individuals. This may therefore create fan-fiction and/ or fan pages based off of my artist's music and content.

Extra Photography or art:

I intended to include slow motion shots and digitally edited content using Adobe software to show my skill outside of videography alone. This would have allowed me to display my editing techniques picked up through experience and hours worth of visual learning from tutorials and class work, and would have given my examiner a better feel for my ability in terms of my creativity and ability in this sector.

Extra text:

As far as written text is concerned with the music video, there is not much that I would like to change from the video that I created using my storyboard. However, this being said, I did not get the chance to include the credits at the end of the video, although I did show this in my planning and on the storyboard. I would have had the names of those featured in the video, the locations of the shoot, given credit to those who helped in any way with giving access to locations or any equipment I used, and I would have shown the logo of Warner Music Group (WMG) at the end as well.

Costumes in images or video footage:

The costumes I had planned had very strong links to intertextuality, and it is  a shame that I was not able to shoot with them or gain access to them as planned. A brilliant example of a costume I had planned to use in the field scene where the females is running in slow motion would have used a white flowing dress with bare feet, loose wavy hair and the props of a green and purple smoke flair. The colour palette (being predominantly white, green and purple) represents the colours found in the flags and badges used in the womens suffragette movement. The link to this is also what I used purple white and green in the logo for 'DISSENT'. The reason for the bare feet was because I wanted to show the connection to nature through the sences, and having no shoes on my model connotes her closeness to nature through womanhood and humanity. The white dress needed to be loose fitting in order for it to ripple through the air as she ran, as this brings a sense of peace and freedom to the character, which the audience can decode as a visual code in cooperation with the location and other pieces of mise-en-scene.
