NEA Planning part 4- location information
The purpose of this blog is to identify different potential shooting locations for my music video. I will be locating areas that will be suitable for each scene, including addresses and completing a risk assessment on each of the locations. This will help me when it comes to shooting the video itself, as I’ll be able to identify potential hazards while carrying out my video with other people, as well as good spots within that area to physically shoot, in order to get the best shot in as few takes as possible.

My first location is the playground area between the main school build and the staff carpark. I have chosen this location as a potential shooting space for my rain scene, which I have planned for the end part of my music video. It is an ideal location because the area is large and unobstructed my furniture, and most importantly is easily accessible by the drop-down curb to allow the fire engine to come, in order to spray the water in the air for this scene. Being outside as oppose to in the sports hall for example eliminates the issue of water damage to the site, however there are some risks involved with this location.
Hazards: Potential hazards for this location begin with the location itself. Being a school playground, it is likely that there may be students on the premises when I come to shoot the video, and with the fire engine, a lot of people may be curios and decide to spectate the event. Not only will this cause potential embarrassment to the cast, but it is also dangerous because if one of the cast members loose focus or is a student finds the self under the firing line of the water, then there is the possibility for somebody to slip over of be injured as a result of this, and the landing will not be soft due to the concrete floor. Water also proposes a risk as a slip hazard, but even as seen in the images below from the rain alone, the playground is susceptible to flooding due to insufficient drainage and the slight downhill angle of the floor. This may restrict the amount of time that I have to shoot as too much water would result in the ground filling with water. I would also have to be careful of any electrical that I use such as lighting equipment and cameras, as the water may cause damage.

Location 2:
Harris Academy Chafford Hundred Classroom G7
I chose this location to shoot any footage that requires a coloured backdrop, as the equipment needed for this (such as backdrop sheets and their stands as well as lights and their stands) are in the room for me to be able to use. The room also has a sufficient amount of natural lighting provided by the wall-to-wall windows, which can be easily accessed by raising the blinds.
Hazards: As this room is a functioning classroom, it may become crowded at times with other students and staff, as well as furniture such as tables and chairs. Using lighting requires me to plug the wires into extension leads creating a potential trip hazard, as well as the possibility for electric shocks if a wire becomes exposed, or if liquids spill into the sockets when I am using water as a prop. The lights may also be a hazard if they become too hot, and may result in burns or injuries if incorrectly handled. On top of this, if incorrectly fitted, the backdrop may fall on people if nocked or not bolted securely to its stand.
In order to control all of the mentioned above; I need to make sure that all shooting is done under adult/ professional supervision from a teacher, and ask for help with the handling of and set up of equipment to make sure it is stable. I will clear the area that I will be working in from chairs and tables, and make sure all other people in the room are aware of potential trip hazards such as wires, and where possible, I will cover so said wires with hazard tape or move them to the side out of the way of paths. Any lights that produce heat will need to be stood on a stand, and are to never be covered over by flammable materials in order to prevent fires, but even so, I will also make sure to keep out of the way of fire exits in order to prevent blocking the path in case of an emergency.
