My Website
Here is the link to my website!
Intertextuality: part of my intention with the home page was to include an element of intertextuality that linked to the type of art and illustration used, such as art work from Andy Warhol, and photography from my shooting locations. As I was not able to actually shoot my video, I was unable to get these photos, however I am lucky enough to have members of my family who were there to use as models, for example in the Warhol-style images on my homepage.
I also intended to use links to the Warner Music Group (WMG) on the bottom of my page, which would have taken my audience to the WMG webpage.
The last thing I wanted to include was a video element, which would have consisted of a radio interview with the artists in the music video talking about the experience of making the song, and what the message behind the music holds to them. The inclusion of this allows audiences to get a feel for the intended meaning of the song and its lyrics away from their own interpretations, which therefore raises awareness to the issue that many women face and have faced historically and in current day.
Convergence: On top of adding the actual main tasks to the website, I also wanted to add hashtags and social media logos on the home page. This would direct my audience to our social media platforms and encourage them to start or join conversations with similar minded individuals. Another idea that I wanted to use was to have links to the band's music on different streaming services, which I did for the song I used, but not for any other music. For example, I could have created a playlist on Spotify and included the hyperlink to it on my website.
I wanted to add my artist's logo to the page, which I trialed in the images to the left and below. I was unable to add the logo to my page however because I did not earn copyright over what I had created, and so the software did not allow me to save the image without watermarks over the top.
I researched prior to making my logo, to make sure that there was a visible use of semiotics through the colours and shapes that I used, which I will add below.
Extra text:
I intended to include more text about my artist in the form of a biography, which would have talked about who she is, her musical influences and the journey she has taken to become the person she is today. This would have allowed audiences to relate to the artist and feel a personal connection between themselves and 'DISSENT', which is a key factor for the demographic I was aiming my work towards. As a younger audience of 16-25 year olds, it is important for appropriate role models to be involved with the media to guide people into becoming better people, which is something that I am highly appreciative of and search for in my own media. The connection of DISSENT to the womens suffragette group further inspires young women to be their own self, and that society shouldn't have to pressure them into being what they 'think' they should look like or do, hence my choice of song.
