Introduction:

The reason behind why I have chosen to create a music video for my media project is because I feel able to explore creative and original aspects of media using my own imaginative ideas, showing my full potential of media skills throughout. I would also like to challenge myself to create a final piece to stand out from the average student. While learning along the way; I want to develop media skills working with photoshop, editing and video skills which I have never really done before. The opportunity to be doing this excites me, and I aim to be able to show constant progression and commitment to the course along the way. I would like to learn how to not only add music to my piece, but to be able to edit my own video to suit the genre of the song, and to show my adaptability to the change in emotion in a song when pared up with the video the I will be making.

This is the mind-map that I made with a website called 'GoConqr'. By making this, it helped me to jot down my idea of what I want to include in my music video later on, and how I can relate the storyline to similar codes and conventions in music videos in the same genre of my chosen brief.

The purpose of this blog is to identify different potential shooting locations for my music video. I will be locating areas that will be suitable for each scene, including addresses and completing a risk assessment on each of the locations. This will help me when it comes to shooting the video itself, as I’ll be able to identify potential hazards while carrying out my video with other people, as well as good spots within that area to physically shoot, in order to get the best shot in as few takes as possible.

What is intertextuality? Intertextuality- A  literary device that creates an 'interrelationship between texts' and generates related understanding in separate works.  These references are made to influence the reader and add layers of depth to a text, based on the readers' prior knowledge and understanding. In this Intertextuality research task, I will be exploring how a wide range of media products in the category of 'Music video' use intertextuality in order to appeal content to a wider range of audiences, as oppose to just one. In addition to this, I will also be highlighting what makes these references to other media texts effective. For reference and purely as an example, here are some examples of intertextuality in Stranger Things: The light shone on 11 which is an almost identical to the take from E.T Where 11 is dressed in Nancy's clothes with a wig, which is what happens to E.T, to make the alien appear more 'normal' or 'human'. In this post I am going to be exploring the ways in which a range of media theories are able to be applied to chosen media texts.
